I recently presented a poster at the American Meteorological Society's 31st Severe Local Storms Conference in Virginia Beach, Virginia. This is part of my dissertation work examining the contributions of line-end vortices, gravity waves, and environmental flow to the rear inflow of mesoscale convective systems (MCS). Preliminary results show that we are able to see gravity waves within our simulation data, and the wind decomposition shows that we do have contributions to the rear inflow from vorticity. We will continue examining these to be able to quantify their overall contributions to the rear inflow. There is exciting work ahead!
